When I initially met Sarath, I was completely new to sales. I took a position with a local media company within their advertising department. After my first two weeks on the job after my in house training, I found sales to be extremely challenging.

Because of this, I decided to look into private training sessions for additional sales techniques. Skeptical of what I would learn, I decided to move forward with a few sessions. Our sessions included material on dealing and overcoming objections.
During my cold calling period, I would enter my prospects place of business with books and binders that triggered a knee jerk reaction response to me being in sales.

Sarath suggested that I try entering without material at first to create a rapport and build a relationship using the psychological dynamics between the salesperson and the client he is approaching.

This technique made my prospects more receptive and open to going into the sales process and I closed more sales as a result. This has improved my ability to sell by 80%! It really helped my first 90 days in sales tremendously. We spoke about the complex sale; that as sale could go from 1 initial contact/meetings to 5 to 7 contacts/meetings before closing a sale.
